What is it? It’s a unique, interactive virtual reality experience & 360 film that lets users, of all ages, dive in our local Marine Conservation Zone, which runs between Brighton Marina and Beachy Head & on to Hastings, without getting wet.

Wearing a VR headset, you can explore a 3.5m square area amidst the area’s unique chalk gullies, the chalk reef, lifting rocks & looking around to find marine life such as the Short Snouted Seahorse, Undulate Rays & Moon Jellyfish.

We are offering this unique experience in 25-minute slots for up to 4 people.

We are running The Living Coast Undersea Experience with slots at the following times from 11am–5pm:

Slot 1: 11am-11.30am

Slot 2: 11.30am-12pm

Slot 3: 12-12.30pm

Slot 4: 12.30pm – 1pm

Slot 5: 1pm-1.30pm

Slot 6: 1.30pm-2pm

Slot 7: 2pm – 2.30pm

Slot 8: 2.30pm – 3pm

Slot 9: 3pm-3.30pm

Slot 10: 3.30pm-4pm

Slot 11: 4pm-4.30pm

Slot 12: 4.30pm-5pm

Booking for The Living Coast Undersea Experience is highly advised, but people are welcome to turn up and see if any spaces are still available. In the case of cancellations, please check back on Eventbrite, Facebook or our website.

We suggest arriving 5-10 mins before your time slot to ensure smooth running for all.

We will do our best to stick to the timings, but please bear in mind that some slippage may occur due to the wide range of people accessing this experience.

Our venue is accessible. If you have any queries about access, please let us know when you are booking your slot.

Saving the environment: We encourage participants to consider travelling sustainably where possible such as:

  • Public transport – bus or train

  • If by car, sharing a lift

Another way to save the environment is by not printing your tickets— you can present the confirmation email on your phone.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Living Coast Undersea Experience is a project by Karen Poley, Director of KP Projects CIC, created in partnership with internationally renowned artist Simon Wilkinson of BRiGHTBLACK with the support of The Living Coast Brighton & Lewes Downs, Sussex Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority, and Sussex Wildlife Trust.

The project is funded by Arts Council England’s National Lottery funded Project Grant scheme, Creative Newhaven, Sussex Community Foundation, The Chalk Cliff Trust, Ouse Valley Climate Action, Newhaven Enterprise Zone, South Downs National Park Authority, Rother District Council and East Sussex County Council.

COVID-19 GUIDANCE 

 

We want everyone to enjoy The Living Coast Undersea Experience safely, so we’re taking the following steps to protect audiences & staff:

 

We will:

Ventilate rooms

Regularly clean work surfaces

Sanitise equipment & hands between users

Ask staff & volunteers to report symptoms or close contacts & to stay at home if Covid-19 is suspected

Use medical grade FFP2 face masks in close contact situations

Observe social distancing where practical

Manage a queuing system to limit contact between audience groups of 2 or 4

Depending on ventilation in venues & levels of Covid in the area, we may also ask that audiences wear face masks in venues

 

We ask that you:

Please do not attend if you have symptoms of illness or respiratory infections, including Covid-19. We will offer a refund if places are cancelled due to illness

Use hand sanitising stations provided

Observe social distancing in venues, where practical

Feel comfortable wearing face masks if you wish

Be patient with us & others as we try to keep everyone safe

 

When not to visit

 

To keep all our staff and participants safe we ask you to not attend if you fall into any of the following categories:

 

Experiencing primary symptoms of COVID-19. These include the following main symptoms.

A continuous cough 

A high temperature

A loss of, or change in, your normal sense of smell or taste

Lives with or is in a support bubble with somebody who has primary symptoms of COVID-19.

Has in the preceding 10 days arrived from abroad (unless they are eligible to finish isolating through the Test to Release Scheme). 

Has been instructed to self-isolate for any other reason by NHS Track & Trace, or any other public health authority.

REFUNDS

 

We are offering refunds to anyone who reports to us before the event. If you or any of your group have Covid or any symptoms, we ask that you do not come. We can offer a refund if you get in touch one day before. 

 

KP Projects CIC reserves the right to refuse entrance if participants are not behaving appropriately or our equipment is mishandled. This is to protect other participants and to ensure no damage is done to our equipment. A refund will not be given.
