The Shoreham Independent Traders Collective (SITC) is a group of local traders that have formed a group to make positive change in Shoreham-by-Sea. This includes liaising with the council for funding to host events, safety on our streets and to reduce crime such as shoplifting, and many other town improvements. The traders community meets once a month on the 1st Wednesday of the week to share ideas and make a plans to implement action. We have guest speakers, a ‘Trader of the Month’ award, and support each other.

To date the SITC has had some great success, moving forward to become a CIC, we organised and hosted the Summer Festival, Xmas treasure hunt and have worked closely with saydesignUK on the EnjoyShorehamBySea website, facebook page, 2022 photo competition and 2022 calendar, as well as many other marketing projects..
Launched in August 2020, during one of the most difficult periods in trading history, we are feeling pretty optimistic and upbeat about the future. Many new businesses continue to join the town, which is enormously exciting and people have been showing strong support for shopping local. Shoreham is growing in size, with several new housing developments and we have a great opportunity to build our unique town centre to meet this wider community alongside the visitor economy.
We keep the meetings very focused and outcome driven. Everyone has their own particular area of interest but we can all come together when we discuss our businesses in relation to the town. It is important to remember that the visitor experience of Shoreham-by-Sea has built up over years of active use and visits. Working cooperatively provides a number of advantages: Sharing knowledge and information, co-ordinating marketing opportunities and activities, using our collective voice to lobby and provide an opinion, pooling ideas not to mention providing moral support. It is important for Shoreham Independent Traders Collective to now take the next step in becoming a cooperative organisation to enable us to have a recognised voice. We want Shoreham to be an even greater place for all traders to take a chance with an idea and add to the wonderful quirky and friendly business community. Here’s to 2021 and a year for Shoreham town centre to flourish!
