Tom Foolery opened its doors on Shoreham High Street in May 2014. Vanessa and Bob (the owners) live in Shoreham, and after a bit of a hunt for a good location it was clear that despite Shoreham having some lovely café’s and tearooms there was no specialist artisan coffeeshop. We adore Shoreham and were thrilled to find such a beautiful location overlooking the River Adur almost on our doorstep. Both Vanessa and Bob have had creative backgrounds and have a passion for the arts and beautiful things. It was this passion that we brought into Tom Foolery with its magnificent interiors and sculptures and it’s regularly changing local art exhibitions.
Our coffee is by far our best seller (something would be going wrong if this weren’t the case!). We worked closely with Horsham Roasters to develop our own bespoke House Blend. Since opening Tom Foolery has been expanding its customer offer, and from 2016 we added our home-cooked breakfasts, brunches and lunches (including our legendary Buddha Bowls) alongside our specialist drinks, smoothies, milkshakes and amazing homemade cakes and bakes. We also love to create some pretty incredible ice-cream desserts from our Sundae Service. We are fully licensed and have a range of craft beers and quality wines.
Having lived in Shoreham for 22 years (and counting) we have seen the town change and develop, and it is wonderful to be able to watch the growing water sports and leisure (that paddle boarding definitely looks like leisure!), a growing market town with lots of lovely shops and walks, not to mention our wonderful beach and churches. Shoreham feels like it is finally coming of age yet has managed to hold on to that magical community spirit and Tom Foolery are proud to be able to contribute and be a part of it. Tom Foolery sponsors Shoreham Girls Under 13’s Football Team and contribute to a number of school fairs, local community initiatives and projects that we feel benefit the town.
This year Tom Foolery have been thrilled to have won a place on SmallBiz100 2020 and we are also proud to have won the West Sussex Coffee Shop of the Year 2020. At the same time Shoreham, ourselves and the rest of the world have been rocked by the Covid 19 Pandemic we have been incredibly proud to be a part of a community that so clearly cares about one and other and so clearly protects what is great in Shoreham. Truly a rollercoaster of a year!
